Racial Justice Committee

Purpose:

To lead and support the development and implementation of LAACHA’s Racial Justice and Health Equity efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Review data (LAACHA Survey data and any other relevant data available) pertaining to coalition members’ and clients’ needs and assets to ensure racial justice and health equity

  • Assess how racial justice and health equity can be incorporated into other pertinent topic areas (e.g., Social Isolation, Capacity building/Funding, Partnerships-Collaboration) and/or in the LAACHA Committees

  • Propose next steps for how LAACHA can take specific actions to support its members’ efforts — and keep identification/awareness and addressing/confronting issues of racial justice and health equity—at the forefront.

2025-2027 Priorities and Recommendations

Priorities:

To better understand and begin addressing the top three priority issues identified by the 2022 LAACHA Member Survey

  • Racial Equity and Inclusion

  • Racial Justice Capacity Strengthening Survey

  • Cultural Competence Training

Recommendation:

In partnership with local state, and national experts, facilitate and /or coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of Racial Justice capacity development opportunities. 

Goals:

Short-term: Research literature and technical assistance resources to identify and discuss models of Racial Justice Capacity and Development opportunities for LAACHA members.

Mid-term: Based on LAACHA member Racial Justice Capacity Development needs and identified resources, develop a Racial Justice Capacity Strengthening plan.

Long-term: Implement and evaluate the Racial Justice Capacity Training Plan.

Join us, usually on the 4th Tuesday of the month, 11:00 AM–12:00 PM, for a dynamic session of idea-sharing and action for racial justice!
